The municipality of San Sebastian de La Gomera, capital of the island, is most alive in the Historic Centre. Together with the main island facilities (port, hospital, industrial park, island government, visitor centre, National Parador hotel, power plant, island landfill, etc.), this place makes this municipality one of the greatest prominences. In turn, the territorial model contemplates the large areas designated as Protected Natural Spaces. Together with the rest of the land categorised as environmentally protected by the General Urban Zoning Plan, these spaces represent 55.08% of the municipal surface area. Regarding the residential and tourist hubs, the Historic Centre stands out together with the port area and the area surrounding Playa Santiago (for tourist/residential use linked to the Tecina and Poblado de Don Thomas golf course sectors). The settlements are located in the interior agricultural landscape found at the bottom of the ravines).
